This 60-minute workshop is designed for bands with a prepared festival program. It consists of two parts: first, the band performs their program, and a mock adjudication is provided. Secondly, targeted feedback is provided, highlighting both strengths and potential areas for improvement, aimed at refining their upcoming festival performance. The focus is on feedback and improvement.
This workshop is suitable for bands that have prepared a program that they intend to perform at a festival (or competition). The purpose of the workshop is to provide feedback on all aspects of the band’s performance and presentation. As far as possible the band should be set up and presented in a situation which will place them in the mindset of a special performance (i.e. performance rather than rehearsal set-up, no discussion between items, maybe an unusual venue etc).
Areas addressed will include technical acuity, musical interpretation and stagecraft. If appropriate, elements of performance such as microphone technique, implications of electric/acoustic pianos etc will be covered.
The workshop is in two parts:
Part ONE
The band will set up and present their festival program in its entirety. Scores or copies will be provided for Peter to mock adjudicate that performance, making or recording notes and comments. As much as possible this performance should seek a festival performance attitude from the band members.
Part TWO
Following the performance Peter will spend the remainder of the hour workshopping the band. Specific observed strengths, and also areas that may benefit from extra attention, will be highlighted and addressed where appropriate. The entire focus of this workshop will be to enhance the performance that the band will deliver at an upcoming festival.
*Price is for all workshops in metropolitan Melbourne. Extra costs may be required for workshops in other locations.
